iPhone applications next level

We have reached a new level! A new level of iPhone app and their distribution. On one hand we are facing more and more in-app business cases whereby mainly the news corporations are trying to sell their content exclusive. In Germany almost all big Newspaper are having their own iPhone app today but just a view have started the in-app selling of content yet. We will see if this strategy is the succeeding one, but there is no doubt that a better usability mixed with exclusive content is worth while paying for most of the users.

Like the recent study of eMarketer (here discussed on mashable.com) points out, the new generation of smart phone users are spending more then 50% of their time using apps – and increasing. As well there is a very intensive public discussion if the public television news channel should be allowed to offer a free app of their famous program (Tagessschau App – discussed here in german). This simply shows that an app is NOT only an app anmyore, it is crucial for business and not only mobile business.
